The task of this competition was to solve the long-term problem of Prostějov: south center with a market and lots of cars. Our design respects the remains of the growing historical core and completes them into coherent blocks. It integrates the existing building of the Cultural Center into the urban structure, which was disrupted by radical redevelopment in 1980s. The new buildings of the market and parking house balance this mass and complete the public space, which supports new pedestrian route, according to the original fabric of the city. This new pedestrian path to the center leads from the parking house, by the market to the church and main square. The park behind the church is based on the original houses of the Jewish Quarter which are referenced in the pavement as a missing piece of the city that is gone forever.
